Every year, the Kalb Construction team looks forward to October and the opportunity to participate in one of the most meaningful community events of the year: the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada’s annual Trunk or Treat. This event gives families a chance to set aside the challenges of treatment and simply enjoy a night of joy and celebration.
From the moment the gates opened, the excitement was unmistakable. Families stopped to take photos, children pointed and laughed, and parents smiled as they admired the attention to detail. Every balloon, prop, and handmade feature reflected hours of preparation and care. The bright colors and familiar Toy Story characters brought the display to life and created a space that captured everyone’s attention.
Superintendent Tom Morrisette deserves special recognition for his exceptional craftsmanship. He built the Toy Story bed and the custom Pizza Planet claw machine, which quickly became some of the most popular features of the entire event. His creativity and precision turned an idea into something unforgettable.
The Candlelighters Trunk or Treat event provides a safe and welcoming environment for children who are battling or recovering from cancer. The first hour is reserved exclusively for those currently in treatment, giving them a chance to experience the excitement in a calm and comfortable way. Every smile shared throughout the night served as a reminder of how powerful community support can be.
